transitions & changes

It’s been 16 months since I moved from my sweet but challenging backyard garagio to my 1700 sq ft grown up studio and in the new year I am finally taking a breathe and reflecting on the growth and change.  It’s been lovely to have, for example, plumbing.  Another item on the what I’m grateful for list is heat.  Yes, even in SoCal.  It can be less than motivating to work with cold water, even colder clay with frozen finger tips and layered jackets…so I am super thankful for my thermostat in my new place.  A bathroom!  I finally have the convenience for myself and employees(It wasn’t so great to have them going through my house with clay filled sneakers and the solution of an outhouse in the backyard was not an option).  Bathroom issue now solved.

I’m going to try my best to show up more on this blog this year, as I myself really love reading the journey of other artists…I hope at least I can give a little insight into my journey if not entertain: )

So at the risk of rambling too much, I will post pics of the last years’ transition.  I always have loved seeing b/f and afters and how people use their space…so here goes…

This is my old dear garagio.  I’m glazing with stacks of buckets.  I always felt like a gorilla bent over with my knuckles grazing the ground.  It was just perfect for my wheel throwing back!  My new space has a designated glaze area with tables!!!  This was just moving in-it’s a bit more chaotic now but I’ve been busy : )  And kiln (from 1 to 3!) areas before and after:

I’ll be back in much less than a year (within the week is the goal!) to post some more before and afters…stay tuned!

for the dogs

my dog bowls have raced to the top lately and have become one of my best sellers.  i love their simple, sleek and still rustic design.  they were featured in City Dog Magazine as well-yipee!
